FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers about pool enclosures, screen rooms and pavers from the crew that actually builds them.

Hiring Us

What should I ask before hiring a screen enclosure contractor?

Ask one question: who is actually going to build it? A lot of companies sell the job, then hand it off to whatever subcontractor is free that week. That’s how homeowners end up with no-shows, loose screens and nobody to call when something’s off.

At Call the Screen Guys, we employ only full-time industry professionals. Our own crew builds every job and it’s never subbed out, so you get the same guys from start to finish.

What is it like working with Call the Screen Guys?

You get a crew that shows up when we say we will, builds it right and leaves your property clean. Many of our customers come to us after dealing with no-shows and missed dates from other contractors.

We design your pool enclosure or screen room around your property, our own crew builds it on-site, and when we finish the job site is cleaner than when we arrived. Homeowners regularly tell us we were the one contractor who didn’t let them down.

Do you take on small jobs like screen repairs?

Yes. Whether it’s a full pool enclosure or a few torn panels on a lanai, you get the same crew and the same care.

We show up when we said we would, build on-site with only the highest quality materials designed to fit your property, and clean up every scrap and screw before we leave. If we wouldn’t put it on our own home, it doesn’t go on yours.

What does a screen enclosure do besides keep bugs out?

A screen enclosure blocks the sun, keeps your pool and patio clean, handles the rain, adds privacy and raises the value of your property.

It lets you actually sit outside in July, keeps water from pooling up against your house, and gives your family a space that feels safe and secure. You’re not just adding a screen. You’re adding a room you’ll use every day.

What services does Call the Screen Guys offer?

We design and build pool enclosures, screen rooms, lanai screening, sunrooms, patio covers, carports, composite roofs, pavers and concrete.

We can also add custom entrances such as sliding, hinged or double doors, and kick plates that protect your screens from lawn mowers and weed trimmers. One team handles the whole project, from the pavers underneath to the last screen panel on top.

Are your enclosures built on-site?

Yes. Every pool enclosure and screen room is built on-site from high-quality aluminum and roofing that is properly designed and fit to your property.

No matter what shape, area or natural dimensions the enclosure needs to fit, we design it to make the most of your property’s layout.

Is Call the Screen Guys licensed?

Yes. Call the Screen Guys is a licensed Florida contractor (LIC# SCC 131151438). We are locally owned and operated by long-time industry veteran Cliff Carter, and our team brings 38 years of experience to every project.

What areas does Call the Screen Guys serve?

How long does it take to install a screen enclosure?

Many enclosure projects are completed by our crew in one to two days once the job is ready to build. Larger or more complex projects take longer, and we’ll give you a timeline with your quote.

Our crews work to cause as little disruption to your home life as possible and clean up the site when the work is done.

Storms & Durability

Will my screen enclosure hold up to hurricanes and Florida and Georgia storms?

Our enclosures are rigidly engineered to handle Florida and Georgia weather, including hurricanes, summer storms, high winds and sideways rain.

We build on-site with high-quality aluminum and roofing designed for your specific property, and we build them to manage rain and water so you’re not dealing with mold, rot or erosion down the road. After Hurricane Matthew, while whole neighborhoods were losing screens and entire enclosures, our clients’ enclosures came through with zero structural damage.

Pool Enclosures

What are the benefits of a pool enclosure?

A pool enclosure makes your pool easier to maintain, safer, cooler and more energy efficient, and it adds value to your home.

It keeps out leaves and debris, limits access for small children, pets and unwanted visitors, provides shade during the hottest part of the day, and helps trap heat in the spring and fall to lower heating costs and slow evaporation.

Can I use my pool year-round with an enclosure?

Yes. An enclosure shields your pool area from rain, wind and chilly breezes while keeping natural light and airflow, so you can swim on sunny days, take a dip on cooler evenings and host poolside gatherings without worrying about the weather.

Does a pool enclosure increase property value?

Yes. Screened-in pools are a desirable feature for Jacksonville homebuyers, and many buyers will pay more for a home that has one. An enclosure makes your outdoor space more usable, reduces maintenance and keeps the pool area looking well cared for.

What design options are available for pool enclosures?

Pool enclosures can be built with domed, flat or gabled roof lines, large panels with fewer bars for a more open view, and options such as tinted or privacy screens. Every enclosure is custom designed to complement your home’s architecture and fit your property.

Screen Rooms & Patios

What is the difference between a screen room, a lanai and a patio cover?

A screen room is an enclosed, screened space added to your home. Lanai screening adds screens to an existing covered patio. A patio cover is a roof structure that adds shade to your backyard and can be screened in later.

We build all three on-site, along with sunrooms, carports and composite roofs.

Can a screen enclosure reduce outdoor noise?

Yes, partially. A screen enclosure won’t make your patio soundproof, but the mesh screens break up sound waves and the aluminum frame acts as a partial barrier. Denser privacy screens, taller enclosures and insulated roof panels can reduce noise further.

Pavers & Concrete

Do you install pavers under screen enclosures?

Yes. We build many of our custom screen rooms and pool enclosures on our own pavers, so one team handles the whole outdoor space. Our pavers stand up to harsh Florida and Georgia weather and are installed with quality-assured materials.

Why choose pavers over a poured concrete slab?

Pavers are durable enough to support cars and equipment, and when one gets damaged, say from a fallen tree, you can replace individual pavers instead of the whole area. Properly installed pavers also divert water away from your foundation to help protect against erosion and flooding.

We work with a full range of materials, from travertine to traditional brick pavers, and can lay even intricate patterns.
